Here's more info about our eggs...
We have beautiful farm fresh, pasture free range eggs for sale! They are all different shapes and sizes, depending on the chicken they come from. You will NOT get eggs from us that are more than a week old. Our chickens are spoiled, they get only the best food and lots of veggies because whatever they eat, you eat. By giving them a balanced diet , their eggs are the most nutritious they can be. You can tell the difference from store eggs by the thicker shells and tight brighter yokes in our eggs. We even grow food for them! Did you know that chickens that eat a natural diet are lower in saturated fat and cholesterol than those you can buy at the supermarket? And you can feel good about knowing where your food comes from and how well your chickens are treated.
Be wary of some claims of free range because that doesn't mean as much as people would like to believe. Fenced outdoor areas can be considered free range. We have no fences here. Organic chickens can still end up with very little access to outside and still have inhumane treatments done to them, like beak clipping to prevent cannibalism. We raise our animals like your grandparents would have, letting them do what chickens are suppose to do like foraging around outside and getting to be in the social groups that they feel most comfortable in. We protect them from the elements by giving them not one, not two, but THREE chicken PALACES to live in and they can choose which they would like to be in during the day or if they prefer they can roam around the yard. Our eggs are unwashed yet you can hardly tell looking at them. This is because the nest boxes are never over crowded and coops/boxes are cleaned everyday. In the past in the U.S. and even now in Europe, eggs are sold unwashed. This is because Mother Nature has put the best protective coasting on them that there is and washing eggs removes it. Washing them does NOT make the eggs safer. Unwashed eggs can last up to three months on your counter top without spoiling since the pores are never opened up as a result of the washing. Tight pores from the natural coating the hens make means nothing can get through the shell as easily as store bought eggs. You can test the freshness of an egg simply by placing them in water. If it floats, this means air has made it through the shell and we all know what air does to spoil food. Of course if it sinks this means the egg is fresh. ; )
