I have heard that this is supposed to be really good for you and I decided to give it a try.  I put 2 teaspoons with organic honey and ice cubes and stir until the ice cubes melt.  By the time they melt the honey mixes well.  I never would have guessed that I would like to drink vinegar.  I gotta say that it gives me a pick me up when I'm feeling crummy.  It helps my throat feel better when getting sick and settles my stomach   Even helps with my chronic heartburn.  My teen son even uses it on his face to help with acne.  This stuff is great

Most of the health benefits of apple cider vinegar are anecdotal and have not been scientifically confirmed. We make no claims about any of the health benefits listed below but offer them up as a starting point for further research on your part.

5. It is said to treat dandruff by destroying the fungus Malassezia furfur and restoring the PH balance of the scalp. Others suggest applying a couple of tablespoons of straight vinegar to the scalp and leaving it on for an hour or two before rinsing.

6. It has long been promoted as a remedy for arthritis. The National Arthritis Foundation says apple cider vinegar has not been proven effective against arthritis but is harmless to try.7. A reported treatment for warts is to soak the affected area for 20 minutes per day in a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water.

8. It is said to be a natural lowerer of bad cholesterol.

9. A teaspoon of cider vinegar in a glass of water per day is said to lower blood pressure.

10. Mother of vinegar, the layer of film that forms on top of the cider, is believed to have antibacterial and antifungal properties.

These ten benefits of apple cider vinegar are just a few of the reported uses for it. The great thing about this natural remedy is how inexpensive it is. If you're ready to give it a try, we suggest Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar.

Thank you to our friend Marilyn at Easter Egg Acres we have our first whole pig all processed and freezer ready.  This amount of meat would have cost a small fortune at the grocery store for sure.  We did have to buy a new 14 cubic foot chest freezer to store it but we needed more freezer space any way and it is well worth it.  We cooked up some ham steaks last night and it was the best ham steak I've tasted.  Can't wait to try the bacon and sausage.   It came in boxes full of ribs, pork chops, bacon, sausage,  and more cuts than I can think of.

After putting all this meat in our new freezer it raised a new concern.  I think it's time we have to shop for a generator.  We've always had it on our mind that we should have one but now counting 5 freezers and fridges total we have a lot to loose should the power go down for long.  With another chest freezer full of chickens we're now ready for the coming zombie apocalypse  :p

Thanks again Marilyn.  Your the best ; )    ~Ken~

One of our customers happened to be at Stitches Boutique in Old Colorado Springs and the owner Tara was given one of our lotion products.  She loved it so much that she called with an offer for us to be a vendor in her store and also at the same time have a display for Territory Days.

Diana and I had only a week to put everything together.  I came up with the display and helped package all the products (I didn't feel so manly suddenly wrapping bows but now I'm back to building and animals :p ).  Diana did the hard job of  making all the soaps and creating labels and packaging.  We were up until One in the morning on the last day wrapping and labeling soaps.  There was 140 natural lip balms alone of different flavors.  We had four hours of sleep then had to jump out of bed milk goats, feed chickens and get downtown to set up our display.

So if your going to Territory Days be sure to stop by Stitches Boutique.  Tara has a great store setup and we hope to be long time vendors.  Soon we should have all these great products for sale on our site as well.  As soon as we catch our breath and make more ; )

This weekend we were so excited to participate in the Front Range Trading Post, a sort of swap-meet for homemade & handmade goods. It was started by the great folks from A Joyful Noise Farm who had heard of similar trading events in other parts of the country. The premise is for all attendees to bring something that they have either made or grown or that would be useful to like-minded people (ie gardening tools, cookbooks). I had plans to just make a few things, but that quickly turned into kitchen overload! Altogether, we brought our farm-fresh eggs, 6 loaves of bread, a few bags of banana bread and muffins, homemade butter and ice cream, chocolate/almond truffles and chocolate chip cookies -- whew!

The location of this week's trading post was a beautiful historic home in downtown Colorado Springs. Surrounded by many raised gardening beds and with crocus already popping up through the grass, this was the perfect setting for such a community-bonding event. The first hour is for catching up with and making friends. We certainly did that! We got to visit more with Kat, who wrote a great article about our farm earlier this month. We also met people that we had been chatting with via Twitter and so got to put faces with names. Other local farmers were there too and they are just a wealth of knowledge and sharing. Both A Joyful Noise Farm & Manana Farm are located in Black Forest and are working on Salatin-style farms. Exactly where we want to go with our farm as well! Also at the event were outdoor enthusiasts, stay at home moms and eco-event organizers. Even the cutest teeny-tiny ToTo dog!

Let me tell you what I got in trade: Yummy Honey Caramels from Manana Farm, chips and salsa from A Joyful Noise Farm, seeds and seedlings from Barely Escape, hand-milled flour and cornmeal from @Elaynne, chocolate chip bars from Lindsay. Kat traded us chocolate syrup, lemon curd and cute little cakes, we got cookie mix in a jar, delish lip balm, Lavender soap, strawberry banana jam and dried strawberries! The trading goes so fast a frenzied it's hard to remember who made what :( But it is so exciting to bring home a pile of goodies like that for FREE!!! Especially now that folks find their funds a little tighter, it's awesome to have a way to get stuff in trade for a just little bit of your handicrafts and skills. THIS is what community is all about!
